Gillian Richardson

 

Chris Walas has worked in the entertainment business for more than thirty years in film, television and theater. He has worked on dozens of feature films.


Working freelance for many years on low budget films and television, he left LA to work for George Lucas’ Industrial Light and Magic, where he worked on DRAGON SLAYER, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and RETURN OF THE JEDI. After leaving ILM, he started his own company, CWI, whose first feature film was GREMLINS.


For fifteen years, CWI was one of the foremost creature effects companies and it worked on dozens of TV commercials and TV shows, as well as many films such as Francis Ford Coppola’s BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA, David Cronenberg’s NAKED LUNCH and THE FLY, for which Chris received several awards, including an Academy Award. The company went on to work on many more films, including ROMANCING THE STONE, ENEMY MINE, GOLDEN CHILD, GHOST and ARACHNAPHOBIA.


Chris went on to direct the sequel to THE FLY, FLY 11 for Twentieth Century Fox and the MGM production of THE VAGRANT, as well as directing for TV and commercials.


In 1993 CWI designed and built the most advanced animatronic dinosaurs in the world in conjunction with Kaiyodo.


Chris co-wrote and was Special Creature Effects Designer on CHINA BIGFOOT: LEGEND OF THE YEREN, which was filmed in China. He lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife, producer Gillian Richardson.






Gillian Richardson has worked on television and film productions for more than thirty years and started her career in television news in England. She immigrated to Toronto, Canada where she worked in television and film for seventeen years. Some of the films she has worked on include: David Cronenberg’s VIDEODROME, THE DEAD ZONE, and THE FLY.


Gillian became a production manager and then line producer and producer. The films she has line produced and/or produced have won over 44 international awards including two Academy Award nominations and one Oscar.


Gillian produced A CHILD’S CHRISTMAS IN WALES, based on the timeless poem by Dylan Thomas. The one- hour television special amassed many favorable reviews and won nine international awards.


Gillian emigrated from Canada to the United States and became the Associate Producer on THE FLY II and then producer on THE VAGRANT for Brooksfilms. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband Chris Walas.
